The Stranniki (Russian for Runaways or Wanderers) are the strong Pomorsky Old Believers who rejected prayers for Tsar Peter and all government papers (identification, passports, money, etc). They would not wear clothing contrary to Old Orthodox Russia, nor eat with those of contrary Faith and Practice. Keeping themselves separate from the antichrist society they went far into the Siberian wilderness. This blog is about these people and my effort to conform my life to theirs.

Moneygrubbers

A moneygrubber is a person who is intent on or preoccupied with accumulating money. The picture below is from page 29 of the book, Archpriest Avvakum, The Life Written By Himself - English translation by Michigan Slavic Publications 1979. The lower caption says, “A monk’s vision of the hellish punishments awaiting moneygrubbers (lixoimcy); a tree rises from the bowels of Judas, that great lover of silver, and on it hang in hellfire both men and women whose lives were ruined by this sinful obsession.”
In truth our money today is not real money, they print it out of thin air. We should not have anything to do with it. The link below from CNN News tells us that 90% of U.S. bills are contaminated with cocaine, though not enough to cause health problems. I do not want to have anything to do with money, even if they (falsely) claim that the drug levels on it are healthy.
